Demystifying Glazes - Part 2: The Alchemy of Color (5/31)
Demystifying Glazes - Part 2:
The Alchemy of Color – Oxides, Stains & Color Development
Date: Saturday, May 31st
Time: 10:30am – 2:30pm (CST)
Venue: Sunset Canyon Pottery, 5809 Burnet Road, Austin - TX 78756
What To Expect:
In Part 2 of the Demystifying Glazes series, we’ll build on the foundation that we established in Part 1 and dive deep into the magic of color in glazes. This session will introduce you to the world of oxides and stains, showing you how you can use them to develop vibrant, rich glazes with a full spectrum of colors.
We’ll start with a base recipe and create a Line Blend, which is an excellent way to understand the chemistry and behavior of your glaze materials. This technique helps you learn how different components interact, and how the ratios you use influence the final color results.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll not only have created your own line blend but also have the knowledge to develop more complex Triaxial and Quadraxial blends.
This workshop will give you the tools to confidently experiment with color, giving your glazes depth and personality!
For those signing up for the Zoom session, you’ll be attending the first half of the workshop, which covers the discussion, a step-by-step demo creating a Line Blend, followed by a Q&A session where you can ask questions and engage with the instructor. If you sign up for the Zoom session but are unable to attend live, you’ll receive a recording of the workshop, which will be available for one week after the session.
If you have any questions, please let us know and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!
